Elite OC Unites an LA Rivalry at the Best Party of the Season

Elite OC - Rivals United for a KureLinda Young’s Elite OC Productions was responsible for Rivals United for a Kure’s production at the historic St. Vibiana’s Cathedral, now an event space, in downtown Los Angeles to honor legendary USC and UCLA coaches John Robinson and Terry Donahue.

Elite scouted for venues for the gala and selected Vibiana for the fundraiser. The entire gala concept and décor was designed and created by Elite, which featured a jam-packed silent auction packaged by them in the courtyard during the gala reception, with one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia, as well as tailgate games (Ladderball, Corn Hole, BP, and Jenga) for guests to participate in. In the main event space, where dinner and the honors were presented, Elite created the table layout, showcasing tables with black and white striped and solid black linens with gold and black chargers. Rectangular and circular tables were located throughout the ballroom. The table centerpieces, which were Elite’s responsibility, were colorful blue and red footballs (USC and UCLA colors) autographed by both Donahue and Robinson with the Rivals logo. The football was presented in a showcase box with AstroTurf and was sold for $100 a piece as a fundraising vehicle.

Elite was also in charge of the program timeline, registration, the live auction, pledging money to Rivals, and BidPals, which gave guests the opportunity to bid on items in both the silent and live auctions by using an electronic device provided to them.

The gala drew 400 people and raised more than $300,000, which was earmarked for underfunded cancer research at USC’s Norris and UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

Elite Makes Candlelight Shine

Candlelight13-JDiche-4153Linda Young’s Elite OC Productions, designer of Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ Candlelight Concert for the third consecutive year, created the elegant fundraiser around the event’s 40th anniversary. Working with Segerstrom Center’s Director of Special Events, Stephanie Jernigan, and event chair, Betty Huang, and vice chair, Dee Higby, Elite presented their vision for Candlelight Concert in the form of story boards to come up with the theme, colors and style of the event.  Elite then began the process of selecting the furnishings, accessories and other design elements within the allocated budget. They coordinated all the vendors and fabrications for the project and worked hand in hand with The Center’s technical director and carpenters for the event.  Elite also proposed different forms of entertainment for the event as well as unique ideas to enhance the experience for the guests. The installation and strike (removal) of all of the rentals for the event were also coordinated by Elite as well.

With the candle a key décor element (the first Candlelight featured only candlelight, as there was no electricity in the vacant Kresge five-and-dime space), the 400 guests walked a candle-lit red carpet extending past the alfresco English gardens to the second level of Segerstrom Hall, where a festive cocktail reception was held in the hall’s foyer featuring an extravagant caviar bar and an opportunity for guests to pose for photos in front of a 10-foot candle wall. The candlelight theme carried through to the theater area, which was transformed into a spectacular ballroom, with tiered seating completely covering the 1,000 orchestra seats. The 60-foot lit panels lining the walls of the theater evoked a candlelight feel as did the LED curtains stretched across the stage with thousands of pinpoint lights. A three-dimensional “40” occupied center stage and featured a video screen inside the “0” for projected video content. The ruby red theme, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary color, was used with accents of pewter and white. The dining tables were covered in red velvet with sumptuous white florals, elegant white contemporary tableware, and silver chairs. A chocolate truffle bar was a gourmet addition. The legendary Beach Boys led a rousing tribute to surfing and the ‘60s and ‘70s, and the dance floor remained packed throughout.

CASA’s 16th Annual Holiday Luncheon

Casa Holiday LuncheonLinda Young’s Elite OC Productions was responsible for the entire production of CASA’s 16th Annual Holiday Luncheon, hosted by its fundraising auxiliary Friends of CASA. Held at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, 575 guests attended the holiday affair, which garnered net proceeds of $260,000 to help children lost in the overburdened foster care system.

Every detail of the fundraiser was planned and coordinated by Elite with the event chairs, which included a kick-off event at AnQi Restaurant at South Coast Plaza, which featured an M Missoni fashion show, and an in-store event at the M Missoni store at South Coast Plaza at a later date. Elite coordinated the following people and businesses, who were crucial to the event’s success: Lugano Diamonds – Opportunity Prize Sponsor (two Signature Lugano diamond bangles valued at $18,000); Master of Ceremonies – actor and model Gregory Zarian; Fashion Show Sponsor – M Missoni; Media Sponsor – Riviera Magazine; After Party Sponsor – Kathryn Grant; and Starfish Tree Sponsor – St. John’s Episcopal School. Elite was responsible for the fundraiser’s detailed timeline and budget, as well as the design layout, which involved weekly meetings with the chairs to discuss and present décor and design concepts for the event. A full mock-up of the event was presented by Elite at The Ritz-Carlton featuring different types of table décor (linens, chairs, napkins, centerpieces). Elite also presented a silent auction mock-up to the chairs and auction chairs for approval. The auction packaging and description boards were all designed and customized by Elite. They also created and managed an event website and created email blasts leading up the event featuring some of the top-drawer silent auction items. Elite was also responsible for creating the CASA power point presentation used during the luncheon.

Elite contracted and coordinated the event vendors, including Classic Party Rentals, La Tavola Linens, Paul Fenner Floral Design, AV & Lighting, Bidhelpers, Happy Photos, etc. They also coordinated with The Ritz for food tastings, venue site visits, layout, the banquet event order, timeline and flow of the event, as well as day-of-the-event details. Elite designed and created all the necessary printed materials with Paper Jungle, including invitations, which were coordinated with vendors to print, assemble and mail. They also created the event program, helping manage the program ads, the underwriter’s packets, which were mailed to sponsors, the Sponsor a Child cards, and the Starfish ornaments, which were placed on Christmas trees throughout the event so that guests could choose a child’s wish to make possible off the tree.

The day of the fundraiser, Elite set up the entire event, including décor, silent auction, registration, signage, check out, and item pick-up. They also managed the event timeline and program, making sure everything ran smoothly.

Red Bucket’s Ruby Red Evening

Red Bucket RescueLinda Young’s Elite OC Productions was in charge of the full production of Red Bucket Equine Rescue’s inaugural Ruby Red Fundraiser, held at the Red Bucket Ranch in Chino Hills. Elite coordinated every detail for the Denim and Diamonds with a touch of “Ruby Red” fundraiser to make it a success for Red Bucket and for the 270 guests attending.

Initial work began with Elite visiting Red Bucket Ranch to design the layout for the event. Many meetings were further held with the nonprofit to discuss the planning process, which included design concepts, layout, décor elements, rentals, entertainment, program, silent and live auctions, timeline, cuisine, etc. Red Bucket’s staff and volunteers worked diligently with Elite throughout the process. Elite also designed and created an event website and constantly updated it with sponsor logos each time a new sponsor was announced.

Elite designed the save the date notices as well as the invitations and coordinated and contracted all the vendors needed for the fundraiser, including Classic Party Rentals, Shotgun Wedding (country rock band), King’s Seafood Company, AV & Lighting, Bidhelpers, etc. The silent auction baskets were all designed and packaged by Elite, as well as the description boards. Coordinating with Bid Helpers included assigning each volunteer duties for the day of the event.

Elite coordinated the event parking, which was off-site at McCoy Equestrian Center, with guests shuttled to Red Bucket Ranch, where they were invited to take VIP tours of the ranch led by Red Bucket volunteers. Elite also coordinated the appearance of renowned television personality Bob Eubanks, who was the event’s keynote speaker and master of ceremonies.

The day of the event, the entire setup was Elite’s responsibility, including the décor, the silent auction display, setups for food, dinner tables, stage, and AV and lighting. They monitored the event, assisting with the silent and live auctions, the raffle drawing, the event program and timeline, pledges, check out, and item pick up. Following the successful fundraiser, which drew net proceeds of $135,000, Elite was in charge of the event tear-down.
